Pointing Dynadot Domain To Blogger

(update) Latest solution from Dynadot [click here]

My Account > Domains > Set Name Servers > DNS

Choose Forward and type in your domain name with http://www. on the front, for example: http://www.domain.com

In subdomain, key in www and then choose CNAME and point it to ghs.google.com

Screenshot:

In your Blogger Dashboard > Settings > Publishing > type in your domain name with www. (www.domain.com)

If your domain is not redirecting to its www. address (when you visit a non www address), tick the redirection box.

Previously:
I know many people who bought their domain name from Dynadot had a really hard time setting it to work with Blogger.

You will only see your blog when you type in www. in front of your domain (eg. www.dualtranz.com) but when you type it without www., you'll get a blank page instead.

The solution to that problem:

Choose your domain name and go to Name Server Settings. Then look under Advance Dynadot DNS.

In Domain Record, set Record Type to A and the IP Address to 72.14.207.121

Then in Subdomain Records, type in www at subdomain,
set Record Type to CNAME and type in ghs.google.com at ip address. Lastly, click on Use Dynadot DNS button to confirm your changes. Here's an example:

Now at Blogger, set your custom domain under the Publishing tab and tick the redirect box below your domain name. Click on the following image:

Wait a few hours (some times up to 48 hours) for the DNS to update and you should be able to access your blog when you type in your domain name with or without www.

I made these changes to my domain name,

1. Yesterday i bought a domain and the seller transfered it to my dynodot account, I choose the Name servers as ns1.myhost.com, ns2.myhost.com

2. In Advanced Dynadot DNS Services, in the Ip address field i used "72.14.207.121", in CNAME records i used "www" as subdomain and in target host i used "ghs.google.com".

3. These are the only changes i made to my domain.

4. In my blogger account i did like this, settings -> publishing -> switch to custom domain -> switch to advanced settings( already own a domain) -> then "www.mydomain.com" in that field -> save changes.

5. Now in the address bar if typed "www.myblog.blogspot.com" it is redirecting to my new domain,

6. Also if i typed mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com, my default domain page(advertising page) is opening,,,, But the only problem is my blog content is not appearing, the domains old page is only appearing.

I want my blog contents to be displayed if i typed the domain name in the address bar.

Please give me a solution.

Thankyou,
Sobinath

Try changing the nameservers to default Dynadot DNS (which means you do not have to enter any nameserver in the boxes or leave the nameserver boxes blank).

Tick the box that says redirect yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com in the advance setting under publishing in Blogger .

If your domain is displaying your old pages, that means the DNS might have not been updated yet. The nameservers usually take up to 48 hours to resolve.

Yeah i am already using default dynodot nameservers only (ns1.myhost.com, ns2.myhost.com),

Should i use dynodot URL forwarding and stealth URL forwarding?

Haze said...

No, you don't have to use any URL forwarding or stealth forwarding.

To use default dynadot server is to leave the nameserver boxes blank or none, not entering ns1.myhost.com and ns2.myhost.com.

Thank you for sharing this one.
It's such a big help.
For days I was so troubled on how to redirect my blogger page to my new domain. I actually contacted dynadot about it. Thanks to this post of yours now my new domain is working fine :]
The ip address was the problem.

Hi

Now, the control panel you have in the screenshot of the post is different. Now Dynadot have A & CNAME records. Maybe you can create another post to explain the new system and how configurate blogger.

Sorry my english is poor.

Thank you and greetings

@AL_HACK
Try this solution:
http://www.dynadot.com/help/question.html?aid=181

Example screenshot:
http://www.dynadot.com/help/image/181-0.jpg

So instead of choosing A in the Domain Record, choose Forward and type in your domain name with http://www. on the front, for example: http://www.domain.com

In subdomain, key in www and then choose CNAME and point it to ghs.google.com

Hi Hichem, in Domain Record you should choose Forward in the Record Type and type in your own domain name address (e.g. http://www.domain.com) in the box next to it, not CNAME ghs.google.com
